The bianconeri are dominated and sink to sixth place. For the Giallorossi, impeccable until Christmas, a nightmare 2023
The first Juventus to take the field after the earthquake due to the provisions of the Federal Court of Appeal is Montero’s Primavera who, disqualified after the expulsion of Napoli, witnesses another knockout, the home one against Frosinone (1-3) . Thus the crisis of the bianconeri continues, who have not won for five games (the last success dates back to the end of October) and who remedy the third defeat in the last four days. The best attack in the league has stalled (he hasn’t scored more than one goal in 90 minutes since the big match against Roma on November 12) and the defense is terribly fragile (as in Naples, two more goals conceded in the first half). The first leg has yet to finish, but it’s not going well for Juventus: the standings now say sixth place, the last one that leads to the playoffs. However, there is a lot of competition (Cagliari on an equal footing, Lecce immediately behind) and the calendar reserves complicated challenges (Milan away, then Fiorentina and Sassuolo at home). More applause instead for Frosinone, newly promoted to their first Primavera 1 championship, which up to now has never lost away from home and which flies higher and higher (now it’s third).
Former decisive
—
Montero puts his hand on the team and trusts the various Domanico, Pisapia, Maressa, Strijdonck and Anghelè, all second lines with few games in their legs but with a great desire to prove themselves. It is precisely the latter, always decisive when called upon (one goal every 106′), who scores the momentary equalizer in the 21st minute: Hasa breaks through on the left and puts the ball in the middle, where the 17-year-old striker is good at taking a position on Maestrelli and to leave no way out for Palmisani. But it’s a flash in the pan, because Frosinone plays the game and dominates at times. To open and close it (in the middle the momentary 2-1 by captain Bracaglia) Simone Condello takes care of it, who in the 15th minute gives his team the lead with a great right-footed shot from the edge and who in the 69th minute closes the speeches dribbling everyone with a lot of digging. In the summer of 2018, after a season of over 30 goals with Tor Tre Teste, Juve brought him to Turin. Power and precision in front of goal, he was considered one of the strongest class 2004 strikers in Italy. A marriage that seemed happy and full of goals, but which then got stuck at the best moment, taking him elsewhere. Last year, the arrival at Milan (7 goals in 33 games with the U18), finally the trust of Frosinone.
Crisis
—
If it is a crisis for Juventus, it is also for Roma. The Giallorossi, who had dominated the championship together with the Bianconeri up until Christmas and who had beaten them in the big match before the break, did not show up in 2023. Three defeats out of three: the knockouts with Fiorentina and Lecce are also joined by the one with Cagliari, which was supposed to be the field of reaction. Considering the missteps of the rivals, with a success Guidi’s team would have regained the solitary summit. Instead, 50 seconds from the end, the frozen shower arrives, bearing the name of Michele Carboni. At the end of the first half he scores the opening goal, then come back from Majchrzak. And in the final moments of the game, when Roma were attacking en masse, he scored twice with a very precise left-footed low shot. Not bad for a halfback with a thousand contradictions, who loves Ronaldinho and who already has four goals in the league.
Missteps
—
It was supposed to be Turin’s Saturday which, with a victory, would have taken the lead. The right reward after five consecutive successes, a happy streak that however ends unexpectedly. In fact, penultimate Udinese are celebrating, which until the break had only won once but which in 2023 put together seven points in three games. Grenade advantage with Ansah, then the Friulian comeback with Asante and Buta. The latter, a 20-year-old left winger, had been signed by Braga in the summer as Udogie’s successor. On the first day of training camp, however, a broken tibia prevented him from making his debut in Serie A. To date, 5 appearances in the Primavera, where he is in another category (2 goals and as many assists). Appointment also failed by Sassuolo who, returning from poker to leaders Rome, with the three points would have hooked the leading duo formed by the Giallorossi and Turin at 29 points. Bruno’s usual brace is not enough (11 goals in 15 games), because Lecce scores 3 and finds their smile again away (missing since the beginning of October). Thanks also to Borbei, who in the 63rd minute saves D’Andrea from the penalty of a possible 3-3.
