In conversation with Libelle, Jeroen talks candidly about this struggle: “Until I was 28, my orientation and faith were at odds with each other.” When his mother dies, he wants to completely change his way of life. “I learned: life is short and limited and you have to enjoy it. So I want to share it with someone. I think it’s a pity if Christian people don’t dare to come out until later in life. You throw away so many years. ”
Nevertheless, according to the royalty connoisseur, ‘in certain circles it still happens that people say that homosexuality is not allowed’ or ‘that it is wrong’. “That makes the threshold to come out even bigger. You take people’s happiness away by forcing them into a hetero relationship because that’s the way it should be.”
Jeroen is very happy with his great love Bradley. “Being able to live according to my sexual orientation makes me very happy and I can reconcile it with my faith.” He is very satisfied with his marriage: “It’s great to be together, to be there for each other. We really don’t do spectacular things, we don’t travel all the time or go away for weekends or anything. We like to be at home with our dog Fido. A dwarf poodle just like Queen Máxima’s Mambo. Nice house-tree animal.”
Jeroen married Bradley last July on the De Salentein estate in Nijkerk, surrounded by about 25 guests. The presenter and his husband get to know each other through Facebook dating. After their intimate wedding, the lovebirds went on their honeymoon to Paris, the South of France and Italy.
The Dragonfly featuring Jeroen Snel is now in stores.
