It seems that HBO Max aspires to become the new Netflix in terms of cancellations of series acclaimed by fans is concerned. After the cancellation of Westworld (which is no longer even available on the platform), now it is the turn of two popular DC series: Titans and Doom Patrol, where both will conclude in their fourth season.
This has been a hard blow to the fans, who have not hesitated to blame it on James Gunn y Peter Safranthe new managers of DC Studios that they are restructuring the entire DC Universe, which has caused (among other things) Henry Cavill to no longer be Superman.
Nevertheless, It seems that the cancellations of Doom Patrol and Titans are not due to James Gunn and Peter Safran, but that it was something that was already planned long before.
Warner Bros. Discovery already had in its sights the cancellation of Titans and Doom Patrol on HBO Max
As the filmmaker shares on his official Twitter account, the cancellation of Titans and Doom Patrol was something that “precedes” them, as it was something that was planned by Warner Bros. Discovery before its arrival at DC Studios.
“The decision to end the series precedes us. But I certainly wish the best for the talented group of creators, actors and the rest of the team that produced both shows,” Gunn tweeted.

The filmmaker responded with his publication to a fan who was angry about the cancellation of the DC series and blamed it on the new direction of Gunn and Safran.
Gunn disputed that claim, saying that the plan to finish the two DC series was already in place when he took over as co-head of DC Studios. While Gunn and Safran have made several decisions that have angered fans, they apparently had nothing to do with the decision to cancel Doom Patrol and Titans.
