Juan Antonio Castillo, lieutenant general of the air force and secretary of the Spanish Atlantic Association, analyzes in Espejo Público the new phase in which the war between Russia and Ukraine has entered after the shipment of arms and funds to the country led by Zelensky by of the European Union and the USA.
Castillo points out that it may be that the balance of the war is going to change. “The war is very complex, right now there are air maneuvers in Belarus that are a significant threat. Keep counting the artillery, the drones, the intelligence, the information, the maintenance of the cars…”, he explains.
He points out that the Abrams tanks provided by Germany are expensive to maintain and the fuel used is very abundant. They consume a lot of fuel and other than what Ukraine usually uses. The expert recalls that in the armed forces a single fuel program was launched that would serve for all tanks, as well as ammunition and food for personnel. “Logistics has a series of legs that are difficult to solve at times.”
It is the eighth time that a threat of escalation has been made by the Kremlin
Moscow’s strategy is to relaunch its attacks in the spring. The lieutenant general puts on the table that it is the eighth time that an escalating threat has been made by the Kremlin and highlights that the other previous times have come to nothing. The conditions for this escalation is that the very existence of the Russian nation is threatened.
