Israeli Troops Launch Attack on West Bank, 9 Palestinians Killed. PHOTO/Reuters
WEST BANK – The team Israel kill some citizens Palestine including a 60-year-old woman, and injured others in the attack on West Bank occupied, Thursday (26/1/2023). It was one of the deadliest days in months of unrest.
As reported by the AP, Palestinian armed groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad said their gunmen were fighting troops that stormed the Jenin refugee camp, while the number of victims was still growing.

The Israeli military said its troops were operating in the area, but did not immediately provide other details. Israeli media reported troops came under fire during the attack.
Palestinian Health Minister May Al-Kaila said paramedics were struggling to reach the wounded amid the fighting. He also accused the military of firing tear gas into a hospital’s pediatric ward, causing children to choke.
The Jenin hospital identified the slain woman as Magda Obaid. The Palestinian Ministry of Health earlier identified one of the dead as Saeb Azriqi, 24, who was taken to hospital in critical condition after being shot, and died of his injuries. The ministry said at least 16 people were injured.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for the Palestinian Authority, condemned the violence, calling on the international community to oppose it.
Tensions between Israelis and Palestinians have soared since Israel launched attacks last spring, following a spate of Palestinian attacks that left 19 people dead, while another round of attacks later in the year brought the death toll to 30.
Thursday’s violence brings the number of Palestinians killed this year to 25. Nearly 150 Palestinians were killed last year, making 2022 the deadliest since 2004, according to Israeli rights group B’Tselem.

Israel says most of those killed were militants. But youths who had protested the assault and others not involved in the confrontation have also been killed. According to Israel, the strike was intended to dismantle militant networks and thwart future attacks.
Palestinians say they are increasingly defending Israel’s 55-year open occupation of the land they seek for their future state. Israel captured the West Bank, east Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip in the 1967 Middle East war, territory the Palestinians claim as their hope of a state.
