On Thursday, the Israeli army killed eight Palestinians during a military operation in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank (the strip of territory that Israel has occupied since 1967 and which Palestinians claim as their own). The army claimed to have intervened to thwart a potential “terrorist attack” which, according to its reconstruction, the people hosted in the refugee camp were preparing. During the operation, there were clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers, with the latter firing shots to put down the protests.
The Jenin refugee camp is the same one where Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was killed in May 2022, who was documenting an Israeli army operation.
