WASHINGTON, 23 JAN – The United States has imposed new sanctions against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards, a financial entity linked to them and senior officials, including Deputy Intelligence and Security Minister Naser Rashedi, involved in the violent crackdown on protests in the country. The US Treasury Department reports this, underlining that the measures target “an economic pillar” of the Pasdaran “that finances the brutal crackdown by the regime, as well as senior security officials who coordinate Tehran’s repression nationwide and provincial”.
