The Austrian prevails on the Streif ahead of the Italian, who started with bib number 43. Paris is fifth, Odermatt risks falling and ends up far away
The Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr won the Kitzbuehel downhill, but great enterprise speaks blue. In fact, Florian Schieder, born in 1995 from Castelrotto, finished behind Kriechmayr, finishing 23/100 behind the winner. For Schieder, who started with bib number 43, it is a prestigious exploit given that in this season, in the downhill race, he had snatched a thirteenth place in Bormio as his best result. On the legendary Streif, the home athlete finished with a time of 1’56″16, the Swiss Niels Hintermann third, 31 cents behind the winner. Fourth place for the American Jared Goldberg, 35 cents away. The American, who started with the bib number 28, mocking the blue Dominik Paris who has to settle for fifth place on an equal footing with the Norwegian Adrian Smiseth Sejersted, 39 cents behind the winner.
Bad day for the general classification leader Marco Odermatt: the Swiss risked a bad fall, miraculously remained on his feet but lost too much time, so he preferred to reach the finish line without forcing too much. Only sixteenth specialty leader Kilde. The other Italians: 17th Mattia Casse, 21st Christof Innerhofer, 30th Matteo Marsaglia.
