HBO Max and Prime Video are competing streaming platforms, but that doesn’t mean they can’t join forces on certain projects. At the end of last year we learned that Warner will co-produce DC animation with Amazon. Now, in an unprecedented move, the companies have agreed that ‘The Last of Us’ will be freely available to all Prime Video users in France.
The arrival of the highly anticipated HBO Max series on Prime Video is part of a larger deal between these entertainment giants. It is a way of celebrating the lrelease of a Warner Pass, an additional subscription that Prime Video users can pay to access all HBO Max content. Both the classics of the service and the new releases will be available.
Warner and Amazon join forces in France
In a press release, collected by Hollywood Reporter, the companies detail that the Warner Pass will be available from March and that will include the new seasons of ‘Succession’, ‘Perry Mason’, ‘The Gilded Age’, ‘Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty’, ‘Barry’, ‘Somebody Somewhere’, as well as new series.
As we say, the classic content of the platform will also be available. These include ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘The Sopranos,’ ‘Sex and The City,’ ‘The Wire,’ ‘Veep,’ and ‘Chernobyl.’ The pass will also come with access to 12 live television channels such as Warner Tv, Eurosport, Discovery Channel, Cartoon Network or CNN.
Although the Warner Pass will have a cost that has not yet been revealed, Prime Video users in France They will not have to pay an additional to see ‘The Last of Us’. In fact, they won’t have to wait too long to enjoy the series either. This will be available the day after its premiere in the United States, that is, on Monday, January 16.
It should be noted that HBO Max has not yet arrived in France, so this move by Warner is an interesting alternative for its content to be available in the country. The company, however, maintains its intentions to launch the combined service resulting from the merger between HBO Max and Discovery+ in the future in the country.
Regarding the deployment of this possibility to other countries, there is still no information. But something is clear. Warner and Amazon, despite being competitors, continue to strengthen their ties. Over time we will know if they reach a new agreement that benefits other European users.
