DAVOS – The ongoing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine are truly a global conflict sending ripples around the world.
Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva revealed this on Friday (20/1/2023).
Previously, Russian officials repeatedly insisted that many NATO countries were involved in the Ukraine conflict.
“This is a global war because what it does is erases the benefits of peace that we have enjoyed for 30 years,” the head of the IMF told a World Economic Forum (WEF) panel in the ski resort of Davos, Switzerland.
“Investments that could have been used for economic development are now being spent on defense and weapons,” said Georgieva.

“The result (is) more poor people, more hungry,” the IMF chief warned.
He asserted, “This is a war against prosperity around the world.”
The Bulgarian economist noted the ongoing conflict could pose a danger to richer parts of the world as well.
“It’s also a tremendous confidence risk, (especially) in Europe,” he said.
