If Battleship, LEGO or Barbie have their movie… Why not Hot Wheels? The little cars and their fascinating circuits will make the leap to the cinema.
Mattel Movies movie makers like Barbie (2023) y Masters of the Universe (2024), they want to continue exploiting all their franchises and now they will make a film adaptation of Hot Wheelsthe striking scale cars that have many circuits with incredible loops.
They have recently confirmed that they have hired Dalton Leeb y Nicholas Jacobson-Larson to write the script for the movie Hot Wheels. While on the part of Mattel Movies will be the executive producer Robbie Brennerthe vice president Kevin McKeon and the creative executive Andrew Scannell. The film will also be produced by the company J.J. Abrams call Bad Robotcon Hannah Minghella y Jon Cohen supervising the project.
They have already made other adaptations of the franchise.
The animated series ran from 1969 to 1971, it featured different characters on different adventures on a magical island called Hot Wheels City. In 2011, a new animated show called Battle Force 5 and lasted two seasons. The show followed a group of teenage drivers who had to defend Earth from an alien invasion using their high-tech vehicles.
For now, we don’t know what the film will be about, but it will surely have a race on an impossible circuit, in the purest style of Speed Racer (2008) by the Wachowski sisters. Let’s hope it’s much more successful, since on that occasion they spent 120 million and only got 93 million. Even though Need for Speed (2014) it was profitable, since it cost 66 million and raised more than 203 million.
The live action movie Hot Wheels It doesn’t have a release date yet but hopefully we’ll get more details soon. But without a doubt, it will be very interesting to know which director they will choose, since that way we will know what tone they want to give it.
