It’s too early to say when Royal Enfield’s new liquid-cooled Adventure will arrive, meanwhile the prototypes are being picked up on Indian roads
January 24, 2023
The rapid pace of development of new models by Royal Enfield speaks of at least a dozen new motorcycles between now and 2025, one of these – and perhaps among the most eagerly awaited – and the liquid cooled platform of 450 cc (although the actual engine capacity has never been confirmed by the Indian company) which could be declined in several models, giving a successor to the Himalayan and giving life to other unpublished models including a roadster and a scrambler.
The last “leaked” photo from the tests that the Royal Enfield testers are carrying out on the futura Himalayan 450 we owe it to the Indian colleagues at Zigwheels and it clearly portrays the instrumentation: if in the current Himalayan there are numerous instruments enclosed in a single panel with the small display of the Tripper turn-by-turn navigator alongside, on this prototype – but which appears to be in a rather advanced state – we find a single circular tool (no less than 10 cm in diameter, by eye) mounted in a very vertical position: excellent for road riding, less so for off-road when you stand up on the platforms but it does not mean that the inclination is not variable as happens on some motorcycle. The breadth of the tool is striking which, we imagine, could contain all the essential information and possibly also be useful for connectivity and navigation. From the photo it is not possible to understand if it is a TFT or LCD unit and if there are analog sectors inside it.
On closer inspection, the shapes of the tank – albeit heavily disguised – appear much more abundant than the current Himalayan 410, while also in this photo we notice the just force USD, the front fairing in full Himalayan style, the controls that seem to have been borrowed from those of the HNTR. Obviously not everything we see will be re-proposed on the final model but at this point the development should already be at a high level of definition and the changes in the equipment compared to the final model should be limited.
There is no confirmation or further news from Chennai, to find out more we will certainly have to wait at least for second half of 2023.
