Riot Games today announces important news for the ‘Storm Circuit‘, an amateur competition designed for all its fans who want to compete against each other in a competitive path challenging themselves to the main Riot Games titles such as League of Legends, VALUING , TeamFight Tactics e League of Legends: Wild Rift.
In fact, the 2023 edition will see a single partner, Qlashtake care of all the competitions of the Tormenta, thus marking an important change of strategy that creates a clear managerial division between the amateur and professional circuits, albeit maintaining the connection for the growth of teams and players.
However, this is not the only novelty. An important change to the format of the competitions will allow the calendar of the amateur circuit to be aligned with the professional one, in order to facilitate and optimize the path to the major leagues, offering new players and new teams all the useful tools to enter the world of professional esports, should they wish. The new format foresees the beginning of the competitive year in September, to then see it end the following July with a “compressed” first season in the first months of 2023 in alignment with this new cycle.
Carlo Barone, Brand Manager of Riot Games, said:
With the introduction of the Tormenta in Italy, we have always set ourselves two major objectives: to provide the Italian community with a competitive structure open to all, which could regulate all activities, both amateur and grassroot, on our titles, and create a real forge of national talents who, with the right commitment and dedication, could really pave the way towards professionalism. The introduction of the VALORANT Challengers has allowed us to come full circle and clearly determine the role of our partners on the ground. The choice of Qlash as the sole partner of the circuit actually pushes in this direction, given their proximity to the Riot community which, we are sure, will be able to bring more and more players into the Tormenta eager to have fun and test themselves.
The Tormenta Circuit, now in its third Italian edition, is a great project by Riot Games that wants to open up the competition at all levels. Participation is open to all non-professional players of Riot Games titles, ready to face a competition structured on several levels. As in previous years, various events, both offline and online, will take place throughout the year, and will primarily include the official events of the Circuit, which however will also be open to the possibility of integrating events organized by the Italian communities of LoL, VALUING, Teamfight Tactics e WildRift. The participation of players and teams in the various stages will guarantee their placement in a real national ranking and the best of this ranking will finally have access to a dedicated amateur league to establish who is truly worthy of aspiring to the next step of the competitive pyramid.
Luca Pagano, CEO and co-Founder of QLASH, added:
We are very happy to be able to consolidate the collaboration with Riot by giving our contribution to a project that fits so well with our philosophy. Organizing an event that offers itself as a link between the competitive and the community is the natural evolution of the work we have done in recent years and that we intend to continue to do, with growing commitment and attention.
