GAZA – Defense Forces Attack Israel (IDF) in Jenin, West Bank, Thursday night which killed 9 residents Palestine has raised tensions.
In response to the IDF attack, two rockets from Gaza attacked Israeli territory but were shot down by the Iron Dome missile system, Friday (27/1/2023) early morning.
The rocket attack warning system was activated in the residential areas of Zikim, Kibbutz Carmia and the town of Ashkelon. Initial reports in Ashkelon and the Gaza border community said that several rockets were shot down by the Iron Dome missile system.

“Some time ago an alarm was sounded in the city of Ashkelon. Two launches (rocketes) towards this city were intercepted by the Iron Dome system,” the city of Ashkelon said through a spokesman, as quoted by the Jerusalem Post.
“We would like to add that after the security tensions, public shelters and shelters across the city were opened for the welfare of residents… the municipal team is fully alert and ready for any scenario.”
The Israeli forces’ attack on Jenin was a joint operation involving the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), the IDF and the police in which the IDF claims it is trying to thwart a planned terror attack and arrest at least three “terrorists” of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group.
According to a senior IDF official, in addition to the many Palestinians who attacked the IDF, there were several hundred involved in the public disorder. IDF troops claimed they were attacked with improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails.

IDF sources also said they saw reports that at least one elderly Palestinian female civilian had been killed accidentally during the extended firefight, although they noted significant restraint by the IDF and very few casualties given the chaotic state of affairs.
