International Furniture Expo 2023 will generate about 800 million pesos of economic benefits for Mexico reported the president of the Association of Furniture Manufacturers of Jalisco (Afamjal), Teresa Calderon.
At a press conference, he announced the winter edition of Expo Mueble Internacional 2023, which will take place from February 15 to 18 the 2023 and Expo Guadalajara.
This figure represents an amount higher than those obtained in the pre-pandemic editions, where up to 630 million pesos.
robert cornejo, Exhibition Coordinator from Afamjal, declared that they expect to reach a record attendance in this edition, with close to 30 thousand buyers and visitorsas well as about 500 exhibitors in 72 thousand square meters of exhibition, which will be distributed in three exhibition halls:
Jalisco Hall, Guadalajara Hall, Mexico Hall; and 4 Pavilions: México Diseña, Expo Oficina, Textile Pavilion and the launch of the 16th edition of the National Furniture Design Contest, Dimueble.
The President of Afamjal reported that Mexico It is the sixth largest exporter of furniture globally and the main one in the American continent, above the US and Canada. according to data from the International Trade Center (ITC).
In 2021, which is the latest figure available, it represented exports per 11,000 million dollars and more than 150 million dollars at the Jalisco level in 2022. Likewise, the country is the third global exporter of chairs, after China and Poland.
Regarding the prospects for 2023, the President of Afamjal expects the furniture sector to remain stable despite the global economic slowdown, thanks to the continuous urban development of large cities and the increase in the construction of corporate buildings that have impacted positively on the growth of furniture production.
