Traditional sports can often have a great ally in video games, especially in those that try to be faithful to the disciplines they are based on, entering the category of simulators. This is what happens with racing-type video games, which have been an important part of the esports scene, holding high-level global competitions.
And although it is obviously not the same to drive one of these virtual vehicles as a real one, these simulators can help improve the driving skills of professional drivers, as Max Verstappen, a Formula 1 driver who was crowned champion in 2022, has indicated. Professional who is a fan of racing simulators and who participated in the virtual 24h of Le Mans, an event during which he commented on the virtues that these games bring to his participation in Formula 1.

As he indicated, in these games he uses cars different from those he drives in Formula 1 to learn new things, since as a driver “you must be versatile and change your driving style, since each car demands something more in terms of steering, throttle and lines”.
“I am constantly learning and adapting to what I have to do in each car to go as fast as possible,” he said.

Something that to finish, Verstappen says that it helps him to be a better driver and therefore, in his performance in professional races, assuring that it makes him better “because you have all this experience in the back of your mind. Sometimes you may not be completely satisfied with the setup of your Formula 1 car, but you can take advantage of all your different experiences in the simulator.
