MOSCOW – A former speech writer for the President Vladimir Putin predicts there will be a military coup in Russia when Moscow blindly pursued its bloody conquests in Ukraine .
Abbas Gallyamov, who has lived in exile in Israel since 2018, said conditions were in place for a full-fledged uprising.
“The longer the war drags on, the clearer its pointlessness becomes,” Gallyamov wrote in a new column for Russian opposition media outlet Mozhem Obyasnit.
According to him, the Russian public is largely starting to realize that the Kremlin’s dream of overthrowing the Kiev regime is not going to happen.

Even, says Gallyamov, the “consolation prize” of Russia’s new territories annexed by Ukraine won no one over.
“Discord is also growing in the military,” he said. “Where (Wagner Group boss Yevgeny) Prigozhin has completely discredited the regime in the eyes of service members with his rhetoric, and the anger at the authorities letting criminals walk around them is only getting stronger,” he said.
According to Gallyamov, Putin’s “macho” image has also been shattered.
“As problems accumulate in the country and the army that the authorities cannot solve, Putin is increasingly turning in the eyes of the people from a great strategist into an ordinary man, a second-rate dictator,” he said.
After months of widespread reports of Russian troops rebelling against their commanders, voicing complaints about military brass, or abandoning the war altogether, Gallyamov notes that all it takes to ignite the fuse for a full military coup is a little more organization.
