“As for the alleged violence, Article 44 paragraph (1) carries a five-year sentence, yes, that is for physical violence. There is also Article 45, namely psychological violence, the threat is three years,” said Hotman Paris, quoted Friday (20/01/2023) .
Hotman said Ferry could also be subject to the recently passed law, namely Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning Crimes of Sexual Violence. This is related to Ferry’s allegations that forced Venna Melinda to have sex.
“If a husband or wife is forced to have sex in a marriage, that can be subject to a penalty of 12 years in prison,” explained Hotman.
Judging from the Ferry Irawan case, the famous lawyer also reminded husbands and wives not to force their will when they want to have sex.
“To husbands, if the wife refuses, don’t force it. Be careful, you can get 12 years in prison. It’s better to buy meatballs, buy noodles, seduce first. If it fails, then buy a Hermes bag,” he said.

Venna Melinda reported Ferry Irawan’s alleged domestic violence to the Kediri City Police on January 8, 2023. They were previously involved in an argument at a hotel there.
Venna Melinda’s domestic violence report against Ferry Irawan was handed over to the East Java Regional Police for follow-up. From the results of the investigation, Ferry Irawan was named a suspect and has been detained at the East Java Regional Police since January 16.
