Carlo Tavecchio, former president of the Football Federation, has died at the age of 79. After Italy led by Ventura failed to reach the 2018 World Cup, he resigned from his position, which he held from 11 August 2014 to 20 November 2017. On 9 January 2021, at the age of 77, he became president of the LND Lombardia, the regional amateur committee which he had driven until 1999.

The last public release two weeks ago on the occasion of the assembly of the Lombardy NLD, then some lung problems and the sudden worsening of the conditions led him to hospitalization in a Brianza hospital last Wednesday. The funeral will take place on Monday 30 January in Ponte Lambro.
