Volkswagen is finally ready with its electric car that should make you forget about the Passat. Since about 2018, people in Wolfsburg have been teasing with the arrival of an extremely slippery sedan on electricity, which was first known as ‘ID. Vizzion’, then as ‘Aero B’ and later still as ‘ID. Aero’ would go through life. However, that does not appear to be true, because the new EV from Volkswagen will simply be called ID.7. And that is not the only thing we can know in the run-up to its launch, because Volkswagen is also opening the booklet about the climate control.
In time for summer
That system is therefore one to be proud of, because according to VW itself, the ID.7 will have the smartest air conditioning they have ever integrated into a car. For example, the EV will start its climate control on its own before you get into the car, as soon as it notices that the key is approaching. With alternating horizontal movements, it should then heat the cabin faster, and when you open one of the doors, the system also uses that function to detect and limit the too warm — or nowadays too cold — air that enters. Your air conditioner also takes into account the position of the sun while driving to determine which side of the car needs cooling most, and otherwise you can give instructions via voice commands. And that’s not all, because Volkswagen pledges that the climate controls will always be within easy reach on the touch screen – imagine.
It will be a while before you can start enjoying all that smart technology. The ID.7 may have been seen in a camouflage suit for a while, but we have not yet received a concrete launch date. Volkswagen is talking about a disclosure in the second quarter of this year, so count on another three months of patience. This über air conditioner comes just in time for the hot summer months.
