After almost three decades, Eddie Murphy will once again cause trouble in Beverly Hills in the fourth movie the Super Detective and Hollywood.
With the original title of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel FoleyHollywood Super Detective 4 will see the return of Eddie Murphy to one of his most iconic roles of the ’80s and ’90s.
Of course the actor already has one age and filming is more uphill than 30 years ago. So much so that Eddie Murphy himself came to think that he could die while filming some sequences of the Netflix movie.
The tape, which directs Mark Molloywas filmed in the spring and summer of 2022 in California, when the actor he had just turned 61. Quoting another iconic movie cop, Roger Murtaugh, he may be “too old for this…”.
A risky shoot for Eddie Murphy
The actor himself remembers it in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, where he recalls a conversation he had with the producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
“I’m 61 years old and I was doing action scenes. You could see my heart beating through my chest. There were many times when I felt like I was going to die on set. I know some actors do those kinds of stunts and such.
Before I made the movie, I said to Jerry, “Listen, I’m 61 years old. Don’t ask me to do things you wouldn’t ask Morgan Freeman to do.” And he said, ‘Okay.’ But then there were some things I had to do. So I ended up jumping, running and rolling. It was too much”.
Whether he’s old enough to go around fighting as Axel Foley or not, Eddie Murphy will return as the iconic detective this year, and he won’t do it alone.
Super Detective in Hollywood 4 will also feature the return of Judge Reinhold y John Ashton as Billy Rosewood y John Taggartin addition to Paul Reiser y Bronson Pinchotwho will get back into the skin of the detective Jeffrey Friedman y Serge.
The cast is completed by stars such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt y Taylor Paigewhich will be part of the new additions to this irreverent film saga.
Eddie Murphy’s return as Axel Foley will presumably be this year, although Netflix You have to confirm the release date of the film.
