MILAN, 18 JAN – The member of the executive council of the ECB, Francois Villeroy de Galhau, confirms that the guidance for increases of 50 basis points in rates offered by the president, Christine Lagarde, remains valid. “We have made it very clear that we will decide from meeting to meeting, that we are driven by data, so it is too early to speculate on what we will do in March,” Villeroy explained to Bloomberg TV. “Let me recall President Lagarde’s words at the last press conference: we have to expect to hike rates at a pace of 50 basis points for a period of time. These words still apply.” (HANDLE).
