With rave reviews and outstanding commercial performance, The Batman quickly became one of the most popular movies of the past year, so the existence of its sequel seemed almost a given. However, the merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery, as well as the creation of DC Studios, cast doubt on Robert Pattinson’s future as the Gotham City bat.
Although we will still have to wait to find out what the DC Comics superhero has in store for him on the big screen, everything seems to indicate that fans of the latest version can rest easy.
During a recent interview with the Collider portal for the purpose of Cloverfield’s 15th anniversary celebration, director Matt Reeves hinted that he is already working on the sequel script with Mattson Tomlin, who also collaborated on the original installment of The Batman. .

“I’m not going to answer that question, but we are working on a movie. I’ll put it that way: Mattson (Tomlin) and I write. It’s really exciting, ”the director replied when asked if he will shoot any movies this year. In addition, he shared that he is excited to work with Robert Pattinson and assured that he “is a very special person and actor.”
In the same interview, Matt Reeves stated that the sequel will have the same philosophy as its predecessor, so the Gotham City vigilante will still be the center of attention.

“For me, what I really feel is that Rob (Pattinson) is so special in the role. My goal is always to make these stories with points of view that allow the character to always be the emotional center of the story. Because many times what happens is that, after making the first movie, suddenly other characters come in and Batman fades into the background,” said the director.
Matt Reeves confirmed that he has a few meetings scheduled this month with James Gunn to discuss the film plans. With any luck, there will soon be some exciting news for fans of The Batman.
