The filmmaker slipped the comment in an interview with Variety, where based on the fact that the director has spoken about directing a “Dead Space” movie, he was asked if “Is there any movement in this regard?” Carpenter explained that “I can’t believe how widespread that was. I’m a huge fan of video games so I played all the games. I was looking at the new digital cameras, the RED, and I mentioned that I would love to do a Dead Space movie. It just went around, and everybody said, ‘Oh, when are you going to do it?’ I’m not going to do it. I think they already have another director involved. And they haven’t asked me to do it. So until someone asks me, I won’t do it.”
For now there is nothing confirmed by EA, but the remake de Dead Space which has its release on January 27, 2023, brings the return of the franchise and it may be the first hint of the movie. With successes like the two Sonic movies and the long-awaited triumph of The Last of Us, adaptations that fans loved, he makes it clear that Dead Space has a great opportunity in the cinema.
