Memphis Depay will play at Atlético Madrid for the next two and a half years. The 28-year-old attacker comes over from FC Barcelona and will be presented on Friday afternoon at 6 p.m. in Atlético’s Cívitas Metropolitano stadium.
Depay signed the new contract after successfully passing the medical examination, Atlético reports. The club describes the international as an agile attacker with a lot of speed, who can play both in the striker position and on the left flank.
The club from Madrid announced the transfer of the Orange striker unofficially a day ago. Depay exchanged Olympique Lyon for FC Barcelona in the summer of 2021. He previously played for PSV and Manchester United.
According to Spanish media, Atlético will pay around 3 million euros for him to buy off the remainder of his contract. Atlético expects to be able to line up Depay in the league game with Valladolid next weekend.
