In fact, if we add up all the downloads that these three applications have on Google Play, we can see how they have more than 20 million downloads in the Android app store. And although they may seem good and that there is nothing behind them, these three health applications have a locked cat.
Tres apps de Google Play
Who has uncovered all this problem has been the Dr.Web company in his latest report. In said file, the company has revealed what is hidden behind three health-related Google Play applications, which total more than 20 million downloads between the three.
And it is that, for people to download these applications, users are encouraged with alleged rewards. However, they never came. These three apps are presented as options to monitor the health of the users who use them, especially since they had the pedometer functionthat is, to count steps.
Within the report released by this company, it is made clear that, despite the fact that users were receiving rewards once they were achieving the objectives that were set within these applications, people had the obligation to see dozens of ads in order to receive these rewards. The problem came when, even after seeing all that advertising, they received nothing in return. Therefore, these are the three applications that you must eliminate on Android:
‘Lucky Step – Walking Tracker’: with more than 10 million downloads. ‘WalkingJoy‘: has more than 5 million downloads. ‘Lucky Habit: Health Tracker‘: with more than 5 million downloads.
the false rewards
Within the report, it is made clear that these three Android apps that we have just seen have the same remote server address. So everything indicates that there is the same developer behind of these apps. In any case, these three Google Play options act as adware, they fill the smartphone screen with ads when we are inside them so that it is impossible not to click on the advertising that appears or, as we said, they force you to see ads to claim the rewards.
Even within these options, users were encouraged to see each and every one of those ads with the aim of “speed up the process. Although, it was just another scam. More than anything, because it was practically impossible to get the rewards. Especially, in those apps that money is promised in exchange for meeting the objectives that are established in the applications. Its main goal is to get users to see more and more ads, since this way the developer gets more money in return.
