The acquisition of almost half of the LaLiga matches by DAZN forced Movistar and Orange to reach an agreement with the platform to continue offering their clients all the First Division matches. That agreement, yes. had a small print: DAZN matches would only be available from the decoder.
That meant that, to view them on mobile devices, the DAZN app would be necessary. The technical problems of the first day, however, caused Movistar and Orange to temporarily enable the DAZN channels in their respective apps for mobile phones, tablets, computers and Smart TVs. But that’s over. DAZN Laliga and DAZN 1-4 disappear today from the Movistar Plus+ and Orange TV apps.
The DAZN app, an essential requirement
If you are a soccer fan, you probably have realized that this season is very different to the previous ones. At least, with regard to LaLiga and its broadcasting rights. And it is that, contrary to what has happened in recent years, this time the rights are divided between DAZN and Movistar.
Does that mean that the operators do not offer all the football? Nothing is further from reality. DAZN reached an agreement with Movistar and another with Orange so that the clients of both could see all of LaLiga Santander. According to these agreements, the DAZN LaLiga matches would only be accessible from the download, not from the Movistar Plus+ and Orange TV apps.
And what does that mean? That when we were away from home, it would be our turn use the DAZN app. Despite this clause, the technical problems of the DAZN app during the first day caused Movistar and Orange to enable the DAZN channels in their respective apps for mobile phones, tablets, computers and Smart TVs.
That measure was temporary and its end has come. As Movistar and Orange have been announcing in recent weeks, as of today, January 16, the DAZN LaLiga and DAZN 1-4 channels can only be viewed from Movistar Plus+ / Orange TV decoders and from the DAZN app .
Therefore, if you want to watch any of these channels from your mobile, tablet or Smart TV, you will have to download the DAZN app and create your account to access to her. More users for DAZN, more inconvenience for the user. The good news? That the two operators give you a free DAZN account to do it.
Activate the free DAZN account in Movistar
If you have contracted DAZN in your Movistar offer, the operator gives you a DAZN account so you can enjoy the DAZN app on your mobile or tablet all the content of the platform. There are several ways to activate it:
In the UHD decoder: enter the DAZN app from the menu or dial 103, enter the email you want to use to create your DAZN account, and then you will receive an email to change your password.
In the Decoder Settings: enter ‘DAZN’, scan the QR that appears on the screen and, if requested, enter your passwords for the Mi Movistar app. Once identified, indicate the email and password you wish to use for DAZN.
On the Movistar website: access this web page and follow the steps to activate the account.
In the ‘I am a customer’ area of Movistar or in the Mi Movistar app: access the DAZN activation link that you will find in the Television section and create your DAZN account with the email and password of your choice.
Activate the free DAZN account in Orange
The same thing happens with Orange: if you have contracted DAZN with your Love rate, the operator gives you a DAZN account so you can access the DAZN app on compatible devices. You also have several ways to activate it:
In the Mi Orange app: enter your ‘Entertainment Center’, select the DAZN modality included in your rate, accept the general conditions and press ‘Complete activation’. When you enter an email (which will be your username) and a password, you will see “Orange Promotion” as a payment method, tap on ‘Start subscription’ and that’s it.
In in the decoder: enter the DAZN app from the Orange TV menu, select ‘activate’ and scan the QR code that appears on the screen with your mobile. The My Orange app will open instantly and you will only have to follow the steps in the previous point.
Through the WhatsApp of Orange: click on this link and send the message ‘Activate DAZN’ to start a conversation on the official Orange WhatsApp channel. Press the button that will appear to activate DAZN and follow the instructions to generate the username and password with which you can access the DAZN app.
