BEIJING, JAN 29 – China said it saw a steep drop in new Covid-related deaths during the Lunar New Year, despite an expected holiday spike in travel and an increase in the likelihood of further infections across the country. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in the evening that 6,364 hospital deaths nationwide were linked to the virus between Jan. 20 and Jan. 26, nearly half the previous week. deaths from respiratory failure and 6,075 those affecting people infected with other underlying diseases.
