Since last Thursday, January 26, the Australian film, “Corsage: The Rebel Empress”winning film for Best Performance at the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The plot is inspired by the life of Elizabeth of Austriaalso known as “Sissi”and mainly in what turning 40 represents for a woman subject to public opinion and the requirement of perfection, slenderness, beauty and grace.
Vicky shared in an interview with Elle magazine that it was beautiful for her to embrace her own contradictions and embody a historical figure like Elisabeth. She “needed a character that she could put all of this into and who was just as difficult and incomprehensible as me.”
The publication endorsed that the Empress “Sissi” is not a particularly nice character, “she could be unfair and harsh with her loved ones,” Vicky points out, since the Empress always wanted to get the attention of others and dedicate herself body and soul to her image, and precisely these aspects were what made the actress delve into the character because that was what hooked her to be able to interpret it. She “she wanted to show a female character who doesn’t have to please, who doesn’t have to be explained, or who doesn’t have to fit in a box.”
They also participate in the cast Colin Morgan, Aaron Friesz y Florian Teichtmeister. However, the premiere is overshadowed by the recent scandal in which Florian is involved, as it has emerged that child pornography was found in his house, this actor plays the emperor Franz Joseph.
Synopsis
