JAKARTA – Indonesian military is already ranked 15th in the world, while other Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia and Thailand are ranked 48th and 29th.
The Indonesian military is indeed a champion in Southeast Asia, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any competition at all. Military Vietnam which is currently in 28th position, is moving closer to Indonesia’s ranking.
Quoted from Global Fire Power, the following is a comparison of the military strength of Indonesia and Vietnam.
Vietnam’s armed forces have more active personnel than Indonesia. The country that has a flag with the star logo has as many as 470,000 active personnel, while Indonesia only has 400,000 active personnel.

However, Indonesia has 400,000 reserve personnel, while Vietnam has 2,500,000 personnel.
Indonesia has 314 battle tanks. While Vietnam has 1,829 units.
In addition to the number of tanks, the number of Vietnamese military generators is also extraordinary with a total of 4,420 armored fighting vehicles. While Indonesia only has 1,444 units.
