On January 26th, the Mexican Videocine comedy, “Unhappy forever”, starring Adrián Uribe and Consuelo Duval, will be released in movie theaters. In days gone by, it was premiered in Guadalajara in a shopping center in the city. And there THE REPORTER had the opportunity to talk with the comedian and presenter, who said he was very happy to share this project with Consuelo, his lifelong friend.
“This is a very special moment, we are starting the year and I am very blessed by so many beautiful things that have happened to me since 2022, and now we are starting on the right foot with the premiere of this film that we have been filming since 2019, before the pandemic. And that we already really wanted it to be released; We didn’t know what was going to happen, almost, almost… Are we going to release it or not? And look, now it is a fact, it is a reality here in Guadalajara with this great reception that the public gave us”.
He stressed that he is satisfied with the result of the film. “We have a great cast of actors like Angélica Aragón, Ari Telch, Livia Brito and Luis Arrieta. Also, the story is not a classic comedy where you’re going to laugh and that’s it, it has a background, it has a message, and I like that, that’s what motivated me to make this film. And also, another very important thing, to be working together for the first time in cinema with Consuelo Duval, which I think that also gives it a plus”. This tape is the first leading role of the actress in cinema.
The plot of “Unhappy Ever After” deals with the life of “María José” and “Alfredo” (Consuelo and Adrián), who are about to celebrate 20 years of marriage and can no longer stand each other. Pooling their savings, their children give them a trip to Puerto Peñasco, in Sonora, to the same hotel where they celebrated their honeymoon. However, a spell will make them repeat the day of their anniversary over and over again until they remember the reasons why they got married.
Adrián reiterates that for him it is very nice to be part of Consuelo’s film debut, that although she has already done things in other films, this was her first leading role. “What a beautiful thing and what a father that I am the one next to her here, doing dumbbells. The truth is that I am very happy, the film is very beautiful and different, it is not the classic romantic comedy, it has adventure, it has action and that feeling of saying, ‘relationships must be rescued, love must be fought for’”.
He also confessed that the challenge of working with Consuelo again was to make the public see them with completely different characters, beyond what people saw them in projects like “La Hora Pico”, for example. “’El Vítor’ and ‘La Nacaranda’ were two such strong, popular and iconic characters. So, making a film like this was a great challenge and we are very satisfied with the result”.
In addition, he shares that when he is faced with a different story with a character like “Alfredo”, he has to draw on his emotions file to be able to transmit them to him: “For example, feeling that you are breaking off a relationship (because) memories come and I have gone through those, falling into monotony, doubt and uncertainty of whether it is going to end, or to see if it is worth fighting for a relationship.
Adrián continues with his Univision program “De noche pero sin sueño” and is also on tour with Adal Ramones through the “ChavoRucos Tour”.
“I can definitely say that I am living the best period of my life, both personally and professionally, with my two-year-old daughter, my 19-year-old son and now with this show that went so well in the United States that We wanted to bring the show to Mexico —they performed in Guadalajara on January 21— and which will continue again in the United States, in March”, he concludes.
