BEIJING, 30 JAN – China is “a cooperative partner of all the countries of the world and does not threaten the interests of any country”, asking NATO to put aside the “Cold War mentality”. This is the response of the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning to what was stated by the NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg who, during his visit to South Korea, said he considered it necessary to communicate with Beijing and to cooperate on issues such as the control of armaments and climate change, but also having to clarify “the challenges that China poses to NATO’s values, interests and security”.
