(ANSA-AFP) – CAIRO, JAN 30 – The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, today in Cairo, called Israelis and Palestinians to “calm” and to favor a “de-escalation” of the conflict in the Middle East. Blinken, in a joint press conference held in the Egyptian capital with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri, declared: “the partnership with Cairo is important for the stability of the region and the world”. “We place great hopes in the joint cooperation between Egypt and the United States to achieve stability in the Middle East”, Shoukry said, confirming that in today’s meeting “we examined the Palestinian question and the attempts to stem the escalation”. “We talked about the situation in Libya, Sudan and the Ethiopian renaissance dam”, said the head of Egyptian diplomacy again.
