Daley Blind will start on the bench at Bayern Munich on Friday evening (8.30 p.m.) when the champion of Germany resumes the Bundesliga competition with the away game against Leipzig. The international came over from Ajax during the winter break, where he had lost his starting place. In Leipzig, Canadian Alphonso Davies plays in Blind’s favorite spot, left back.
Besides Blind, there is also Ryan Gravenberch, another former Ajax player. The midfielder has also not been given a place in the base by trainer Julian Nagelsmann. Matthijs de Ligt does start the match.
Yann Sommer is in goal with the leader. He was taken over from Borussia Mönchengladbach this week, due to the long-term injury of international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Noussair Mazraoui, also a player with an Ajax past, is missing from Bayern. He is not fit yet. This also applies to Sadio Mané, the attacker who came over from Liverpool in the summer.
