Its exit from circulation is due to the strategy of replacing banknotes with coins that the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) decided from the beginning, when it launched this new piece.
It will have two years of life circulatingsince the central bank will withdraw it to make way for 20-peso coins as the main means of payment in that denomination.
This is the new 20-peso banknote made in multicolored polymer, predominantly green and red, of the G family, commemorating the Bicentennial of the Consummation of Independence..
The obverse represents the consummation of the historical process of the Independence of Mexico, represented with a fragment of the artistic work of an anonymous author of the entry of the Triguarante Army to Mexico City on September 27, 1821.
The work in which Banxico was inspired for the design of the 20-peso bill is part of the collection of the National Museum of History that is in the Chapultepec Castle, in Mexico City, in which it can be seen, on the left , which flies the Flag of the Army of the Three Guarantees and, on the right, the Flag of Mexico.
On the reverse, the mangrove ecosystem is represented with a Mexican crocodile and the chocolate heron in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve in Quintana Roo, which is a natural heritage of humanity.

In addition, the piece was made with new security features to prevent counterfeitingand innovative features in its design.
A detail that made it the winner of the most beautiful ticket in the region was precisely the orientation of the images on both sides; while on the obverse it is horizontal, on the reverse it is vertical.

The inks with which the piece was made are fluorescent because they shine and stand out when exposed to light.
In the lower part, to the right of the obverse, it has a transparent window that contains the number 20 in line texture across the entire width of the note and two dots at each end, as well as the years 1821 and 2021 on inks that change color. Colour.
