At least ten children have drowned following the sinking of a boat on the Tanda, a lake in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the north of the country. The boat was carrying about thirty students between the ages of 7 and 14 on a school trip: for reasons yet to be clarified, it capsized. Nine others are missing, while the others managed to get to safety: they were rescued and taken to health facilities, but six are in serious condition.
Also in Pakistan, 41 people died in the accident of a bus that fell into a ravine in the province of Balochistan, in the south-western part of the country. According to preliminary reports, the bus was carrying 48 passengers and went off the road after hitting a bridge pillar.
