Asylum seekers with a terrorist past regularly run into the lamp: ‘Often after a tip from abroad’

A 38-year-old man who came to the Netherlands from Syria as an asylum seeker in 2019 is suspected of having held a managerial position in the security service of the terrorist organization IS. In similar cases in the past, discovery often followed a tip from abroad, says criminologist Maarten Bolhuis.
