Made in Abyss has had a big announcement this week, a new one is going to be released animated project. Beyond that there is little more information, not even if it will be a new season, a movie or an OVA. Even so, Made in Abyss has a lot of material to draw from if you want to start the series for the first time. At La Casa de EL we thought that making a display order guide of the series could be of help to you, as there are quite a few products and it can be a bit difficult to follow them.
Made in Abyss: Temporada 1
The series, obviously, begins with its first season, where we meet the two great protagonists, Riko y Reg. Riko is an orphan whose mother descended into the depths of the Abyssfrom where he can no longer return. Riko’s dream is to embark on the same journey to meet her again and be the best explorer ever. Reg is some kind of Robot boy and it seems that he has some relationship with the Abyss and with Riko’s mother…
Both decide to escape from the orphanage and go down to the depths. In fact, they manage to go through several layers on their journey and make a new friend, Nanachialthough to cross the 6th layer of depth they will have to sacrifice everything.
Made in Abyss: Journey’s Dawn
After the success of the first season two compilation films were released. The first one covers the chapters of the 1 al 8although what is interesting about this film is that it adds several new scenes, better editing and better sound.
Made in Abyss: Wandering Twilight
This film covers the plot of the episodes of the 9 al 13 and acts, like its predecessor, as an improvement in the edition of the series, adds a new scene at the end, trims various filler scenes and improvements to sound and music.
Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul
This is already a movie with a new plot. The whole movie revolves around getting down to the 6th layer, but for this they must go through a really tough test, face a particularly ruthless White Whistle. The animation team did a very good job choosing this arc in the form of a movie and not a series, since all the tension and battles are better condensed this way.
Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun
And now yes, the 2nd season of the series. direct sequel to the film We are already in the middle of the 6th layer. Our protagonists find a city full of “people” where they discover that something strange is happening in addition to which, for the first time, they discover bits and pieces of Reg’s past with a very disturbing new character. This season only covers a story arc that in the manga is really long and leaves us at the point where this one leaves it, since right now there are hardly any chapters of the new story arc.
What story will the new animation project bring us? Personally, only one thing occurs to me, and that is to adapt the anthologies that exist, short stories collected in volumes that take place in the universe of Made in Abyss. Another option would be to adapt part of the game’s story or a new anime-exclusive plot.
