If you haven’t received the Android Auto Coolwalk update, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Android updates are always progressive, although this version of Android Auto is quite particular. In November 2022 we warned: Coolwalk was beginning to be activated. Some users of the beta version reported the arrival of the new interface. but only some.
Two months later, on January 6, the official deployment “began”. Google announced the arrival of Coolwalk and it was to be expected that, little by little, the redesign would come. We are about to close February, and there are many users who continue with the old interface.
The problem is not Coolwalk, the problem is that something is wrong with the updates on Android
It’s been about a month since the Android Auto Coolwalk rollout was announced. Updates continue to be released of the Android operating system for our vehicles, and users report that there is no news from Coolwalk. It is the case of server and all his circle. In my particular case, I have several phones with Android 13 and the latest Android Auto betas: there is no trace of the update.
On Reddit, users recount even more curious situations, such as that of a user who received Coolwalk when connecting his Galaxy S20 to the car. After buying a Galaxy S22, he claims to have lost the new interface. Other users comment that it appears on some phones, but not on others… The main point here is that Google updates are server dependentand not directly from whether or not we have updated the apps to the latest version.
Updates reach certain user groups, progressivelyuntil everyone has it. In the process, we find that a growing group of users are getting access to these updates and features, while the rest have to wait.
It is something similar to what happens with the updates of Google apps, such as Maps, Gmail, etc. Google announces news, they first reach a small group of users, the function expands to more and more groups, until the circle is closed and there are no users left to update.
This is a measure that allows Google to obtain feedback on updates without them reaching the whole world and, in case of bad results, to stop the deployment without causing greater harm. The counterpart is the one we suffer with Coolwalk: there are no official arrival dates.
