If anyone knows about weddings, it’s Jennifer Lopez (JLo)who as an actress has given life to wedding planners and brides in distress, while In real life, she has been married four times, the last being to actor Ben Affleck..
Perhaps that is why only she could be in the middle of “Bodas de plomo”, which becomes a war field when some criminals take the attendees hostage in the middle of an armed struggle.
But not only the boyfriends Darcy (JLo) y Tom (Josh Duhamel) they will have to manage to survive, their loved ones will also enter the fight: Robert (Cheech Marin)the father of the bride, for example, will become the leader of a mission to save the groom, whom he has never wanted.
“Robert is very rich, but that’s why he wants to control the world and that included his daughter’s life because he preferred her old boyfriend. (Lenny Kravitz) and although at first he tries to show his disapproval and detract from the new couple, I think that in the end he becomes aware that what he really wants is for his daughter to be happy”, says Marin.
The cast that includes Jennifer Coolidge, D’Arcy Carden, Steve Coulter y Callie Hernandezlived during filming in a villa in the Dominican Republic, where they learned to empathize with each other to give life to a family that literally takes up machine guns to defend themselves.
“We would have dinner together every night, then we would work and be in some kind of swimming pool, fully clothed all day for weeks; that made us a family”, details Callie, who gives life to Jamie Rivera.
Steve Coulter, who plays the groom’s father, Larry, Carol’s (Jennifer Coolidge) husband, highlights JLo’s dedication as one of the main elements to unite the cast, but also the authenticity of the characters.
“In the script it said that I should have a beard, but I didn’t feel that it made the character realistic, so I talked to the director, and after shaving and only having a mustache, I found the character,” he says.
While D’Arcy Carden highlights the bravery of the bride as a hero in a torn dress, who, feeling supported by her family, had the strength to face evil.
“It all comes down to love and family, the movie makes you reflect on who is important in your life and how it is so easy to take things for granted, but in a life or death situation you really see what is important to you”” Carden points out.
