The amateur football players of De Treffers caused a resounding surprise in the second round of the KNVB Cup tournament. The formation defeated the professionals of SC Cambuur. At Sportpark Zuid in Groesbeek it became 1-0.
Cambuur plays in the Eredivisie, De Treffers plays in the second division.
After half an hour, De Treffers took the lead. Willem den Dekker made it 1-0. He took a cross from the left beautifully and then scored with a shot from the turn into the top corner.
There were then opportunities for Cambuur. Goalkeeper Niels Kornelis, however, distinguished himself with several saves, including a bet by Cambuur striker Tom Boere.
Keeper João Virgínia van Cambuur received the red card in injury time.
Competition defeat against Volendam
Trainer Sjors Ultee already had an unsatisfactory debut on the bench at Cambuur last weekend. The Frisians lost at home to Volendam 3-0. Cambuur is now last in the Eredivisie.
