Actor Alec Baldwin will be charged with involuntary manslaughter for shooting cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, US authorities said Thursday.
Hutchins was shot and killed by Baldwin on the film set with a prop gun in October 2021. Baldwin he was rehearsing a scene for the movie Rust when the accident happened on a ranch near Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Hannah Gutiérrez Reed, the person who was in charge of the guns on the movie set, She will also be charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced in a statement that the charges will be filed by the end of the month.
“Actor and producer Alec Baldwin and gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed They will be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter each.”reads in the text.
“After a thorough review of the evidence, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence.”
