WASHINGTON – Office in Alabama, United States of America (US) said at least six people died as a result tornado . They also said they were still looking for the other dead.
The US weather agency, the National Weather Service (NWS), reported more than 35 tornadoes across the southern US on Thursday local time, putting more than 30 million people at risk.
“A large and very dangerous tornado caused widespread damage in Selma, Alabama,” the NWS said.
The storm has also caused power outages for thousands of people in four states. According to Poweroutages.us, more than 147,000 residents in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas were without power Thursday night.
The bad weather is expected to continue through the night.

All of the reported tornado deaths in Alabama were in Autauga County, which is located between the cities of Montgomery and Selma in the center of the state.
“We have had multiple deaths and are still searching for bodies,” Autauga County Coroner Buster Barber told CNN.
At 12:53pm local time, the NWS office in Birmingham warned that a “tornado emergency” had been declared for the Autauga District.
The agency posted on Twitter: “THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. LEAVE IMMEDIATELY!!”
