Today unfortunately we report a sad event that relates video games, violence and minors. It is precisely about the murder of a child at the hands of another child after a dispute while they were playing slot machines.
The event took place in Tejocote, in La Perla, Veracruz, last Sunday, January 19, 2023, when 2 children were playing arcade games, known in Mexico and other Latin American regions as “maquinitas”, in the company of other local children.
Witnesses report that at some point, Samuel, 11, and another 10-year-old boy argued after the latter lost several times. After the dispute, the 10-year-old boy left his post, entered his house looking for his father’s gun, returned and shot Samuel in the head, who unfortunately died. The other children ran away.

“He went to play with the machines, when suddenly I heard that the children, neighbors began to murmur, they began to say that there was a shooting and I ran to see and that was when they told me that it was my nephew and I went to the place and if certainly if it was him”, commented the aunt of the child who died and who was already buried. The family demands justice.
According to the Azteca Information Force report, the aggressor child is on the run, because upon learning of the crime his father took him and fled. So far his whereabouts are unknown, but the Veracruz Attorney General’s Office has already begun investigations.
For his part, the father of the deceased minor expressed his outrage upon learning that the father of the other child left the weapon within his reach: “There is no way and he did not have the right to leave the weapons on the table because it is not a game, It is not a fruit to eat, you cannot leave the weapon within the reach of a child, I cannot leave my weapons within the reach of children at the table because I have children”.
