JAKARTA – The seven countries with the highest financial secrecy in the world are assessed based on the index from the Tax Justice Network in 2022.
This financial secrecy index is a ranking made to see how tightly a country hides its financial information. This also allows them to avoid global legal rules.
Because financial secrecy can also facilitate tax abuse, to the point where there is money laundering.
But according to the International Consortium Of Investigative Journalists, a higher rating doesn’t necessarily mean that a country has worse financial laws, but rather that the country is playing a greater role in fueling global secrecy.
Here are 7 countries with the highest financial secrecy in the world:
1. United States
The US is the country with the highest financial secrecy in the world with an FSI Value or financial secret index value of 1.951.
With a secrecy score of 67/100, Uncle Sam’s country also contributes around 5.74% of the world’s total financial secrecy rate.
2. Swiss
The second position is occupied by Switzerland which has a financial secret index value of 1.167. Even though this country has a higher score than the US, which is 70/100, the Land of Milk and Honey only accounts for around 3.43% of the world’s total financial secrecy rate.
