JAKARTA – These four most ruthless presidents were known for their dictatorships during their reign. Not a few people who suffered under their rule.
The president, as a leader, is expected to bring prosperity and glory to the country. But this is precisely the opposite of these presidents who are known to be cruel.
They actually created several controversial rules that made their people suffer. Even some of them do not hesitate to act of discrimination.
Here are four presidents who are considered the most cruel while in power:
1. Xi Jinping (China)
Xi Jinping became president of China in 2013. One of the major controversies in this communist leadership was when he imposed forced labor in the Xinjiang region on ethnic Uighurs (one of the Islamic ethnic groups in China).
Not only that, China is also reported to have forcibly sterilized ethnic Uighur women to suppress the population.
The BBC reports that the country has been separating children from their families and trying to break the cultural traditions of the Uighur ethnic group.
In fact, the communist government holds full control over all media and any form of rebellion against the government will not be tolerated.
2. Bashar al-Assad (Syria)
