The fire brigade has been called to the aid of a major flood in ten detached houses on the Godwit in Wierden. There is half a meter of water in the crawl space of the houses. Firefighters are pumping the water from the houses to a grassy area down the street. It is not clear what caused the massive flooding. A local resident refers to a high groundwater level, which may be the result of weirs that have been closed to retain as much water as possible.
