A car caught fire while driving on the Ruiterweg between Steenwijk and Havelterberg this afternoon. The car had just left the A32 motorway when smoke billowed from under the hood. The driver immediately parked the car on the verge, after which someone else tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. That did not work and the fire brigade could not prevent the car from burning out. The Ruiterweg was closed for a while to extinguish the fire.
