Born, exercise to test atomic deterrence is underway
NATO will hold the exercise from today, October 17 and until the 30th of this month ‘Steadfast Noon’ (‘Constant noon ‘), during which the air forces of all the Alliance they will exercise nuclear deterrence capabilities. Up to 60 aircraft of various types, including fourth and fifth generation fighters and US B-52 long-range bombers, will fly over the Belgium, the North Sea and the United Kingdom. The exercise, which does not involve the use of live weapons, “helps ensure that the Alliance’s nuclear deterrent remains safe, secure and effective,” a spokesman explained.
