Giovanni Di Pillo has left us. The well-known Tuscan commentator, who for years has talked about the exploits of the Superbike world championship, passed away on Thursday 13 October, at the age of 67. Of “The Voice” (as it was nicely nicknamed) the famous commentary of the races that since the nineties have seen champions of the caliber of Giancarlo Falappa, Noriyuki Haga, Troy Corser, Troy Bayliss and Max Biaggi as protagonists.
During his long career Giovanni was also the official speaker of the Mugello International Circuit, commentator of various sporting events, of the Italian Superturismo car championship, as well as Director of the thematic TV channel Nuvolari and special correspondent for Radio 105 and Virgin Radio.
Di Pillo, born in Viareggio on 24 August 1955, disappeared at the Carreggi hospital in Florence, where he had been hospitalized for some time for heart problems. His voice will continue to be remembered by all those who love this beautiful sport.
